Part-Time Recreation Employee

The City of Newberry is accepting applications for the position of Part Time employee. Employment will start immediately. Applicant must possess general knowledge of computers. Responsibilities will include registration for child development program and athletics, receiving and documenting payments; communicate with parents about programs; answer telephone; assist in origination of child development program; working as a counselor in the afterschool and summer program and maintaining a safe clean work area.

1.  Website/Government Channel Assistant

Assist in updating the City of Newberry’s Website and government channel. The City is looking for a creative, computer savvy student to explore and discover possible website enhancements and opportunities. We offer a creative, upbeat, business casual environment and look to fill the position immediately

The selected applicant will be tasked to review and evaluate our current website, then present potential opportunities for improvement. Hours are negotiable. Accepting collegiate level individuals only.

Ideal candidates possess:

  • The ability to effectively communicate thoughts and ideas
  • The ability to perform various forms of online research
  • The ability to work independently

Hours Requested: Minimum 2 hr time slots. 8-10 hours weekly.

2.  Record Retention Assistant

Assist with municipal record retention and destruction. Performs clerical, technical and physical duties and assists with state and federal mandated activities pertaining to the retention and destruction of all official district records.

Hours Requested: Minimum 2 hr time slots.
Community Service Hours available.

3.  IT Intern
  • Evaluate the 40+ forms used by city businesses, government, and residents that are located on the city website (http://www.ci.newberry.fl.us/all-forms/) and discuss with the department utilizing the form(s) to determine if updates or changes are needed.
  • Once form(s) are updated, intern will be responsible for “digitizing them” into fillable PDF format.
  • Set up data spreadsheets for exporting data from the PDF forms that are emailed or faxed to the city.
  • Create detailed instruction manual for how to export data into files and manage forms.

Hours Requested: Completion of project.  Possibility of working long distance with bi-weekly meeting updates.
