Newberry Reaches Fundraising Goal for Safe Haven Baby Box Installation at Local Fire Station

The City of Newberry proudly announces the successful fundraising for installing a Safe Haven Baby Box at our local fire station. Thanks to the profound generosity of our community members and the proceeds from t-shirt sales, we have reached our funding goal!

The Safe Haven Baby Box initiative offers a safe, anonymous option for parents in crisis to surrender their newborns in a secure, warm, and medically-equipped environment. The upcoming installation at our fire station emphasizes our community's commitment to the welfare and safety of all our residents, especially the most vulnerable.

This significant accomplishment wouldn't have been possible without the contributions of our donors and the supporters who purchased shirts. We extend our deepest gratitude to Jordan Fairfield, whose generous donation of $10,000 played a pivotal role in achieving our objective.

"The Safe Haven Baby Box installation is a testament to our citizens' collective goodwill and compassion. Newberry is a community that consistently comes together in times of need," stated Mayor Jordan Marlowe.

Now that we've reached our goal, the installation process will commence promptly. The Safe Haven Baby Box will soon be operational, providing an essential safety measure in our community.

As we continue our community initiatives, we are pleased to announce that future sales of the "Newberry- Small Town, Big Heart" T-shirts will contribute to funding the Newberry Opioid Task Force. Those interested in supporting this critical cause and owning a piece of Newberry pride can purchase a shirt via this link (click here).

The City of Newberry will hold a community event to celebrate the installation. Details will be announced soon.
