New Quint 28

The Newberry Fire Department cordially invites community members to witness a time-honored firefighting tradition as they introduce the new Quint 28 fire apparatus. The ceremony will take place on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 9:00 AM at the Newberry Fire Department located at 310 NW 250th Street, Newberry.

The "Push-In Ceremony" pays homage to the rich history of firefighting, harkening back to the 1800s when firefighters unhitched horses from their equipment and physically pushed their gear back into the station after attending a call. While modern technology has rendered this practice obsolete, the ceremony lives on as a cherished fire service tradition.

The ceremony will officially introduce the new Quint 28, a 2023 E-One Typhoon custom chassis quint truck, replacing the existing 1999 Southern Coach. The 'quint,' or quintuple combination pumper, boasts multifunctional capabilities encompassing a pump, water tank, fire hose, aerial device, and ladders.

Fire Chief Mike Vogel said, "The new Quint 28 represents a significant advancement in our firefighting capabilities. It's versatility and state-of-the-art design will greatly enhance our ability to serve and protect the residents of Newberry. This investment ensures that we remain at the forefront of public safety, offering our community the peace of mind they deserve."

This state-of-the-art fire apparatus signifies our continuous commitment to enhancing our city's safety. The Quint 28 stands ready to serve Newberry's citizens and visitors for the next two decades.

Join us in celebrating this monumental occasion and honoring our rich firefighting history.
